Cybele's Harvest started the way a lot of good things do: with a group of friends, a shared love of cooking, and a suitcase full of spices from back home in Turkey.
Every trip to Turkey meant restocking our own kitchens — and bringing back enough Aleppo Pepper, Urfa Biber, and dried mint for everyone else who had fallen in love with those bold, warm, citrusy, smoky flavors.
It didn't take long to realize that something was missing from store shelves here in the U.S. — not just the spices themselves, but the quality, the freshness, and the sense of:
"This is what it's supposed to taste like."
That was the reaction every single time. Friends, neighbors, coworkers — once they tried the real thing, there was no going back.

Who's Cybele, Anyway?
Cybele (pronounced SIB-uh-lee) was an Anatolian goddess — protector of nature, nurturer of land and people, and symbolic of abundance. Her name shows up all over the region, from myths to mountaintops.
We borrowed her name with respect and a little wink — to honor the land, the people, and the harvests that make this all possible.
